Reimagining Health in Remote Australia: Vision for Cloncurry

 Cloncurry Shire Council recognised that improving health outcomes required more than identifying service gaps. It required a compelling case for change.

The project sought to answer two important questions. 

1. Which health priorities required coordinated advocacy to attract State Government investment? 
2. And where could the community begin creating meaningful improvements through local leadership, stronger partnerships and innovative approaches to service delivery?

Working alongside Council, health providers and the community, we connected the dots between evidence, lived experience and local aspirations. Rather than viewing individual challenges in isolation, we helped create a shared understanding of how health outcomes could be improved through a combination of strategic investment, collaboration and practical community-led action.

This shifted the conversation.

Rather than focusing solely on individual health issues or a single infrastructure project, the Community Health Vision established a broader roadmap for the future. Four high-priority investment opportunities created a clear advocacy agenda for State Government, while a further fifteen strategic opportunities identified practical initiatives that could be progressively explored through partnership, innovation and local leadership.

The result was more than a Community Health Vision. It became a shared platform for advocacy, collaboration and long-term decision-making, giving Council greater confidence to champion the health priorities that matter most to its community.
